H.E.R. to sing National Anthem at Paris 2024 closing ceremony

Filipina American five-time Grammy winner H.E.R. will perform during the closing ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics, The Philippine Star reports. Part of a star-studded line-up including Billie Eilish, Snoop Dogg, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, H.E.R. is slated to sing the U.S.’s national anthem as part of the handover from Paris to Los Angeles, which will host the next summer Olympics in 2028.

Along with the announcement of H.E.R’s performance, organizers for the Los Angeles Olympics also revealed a custom LA28 emblem featuring the singer’s purple electric guitar and her signature sunglasses.

The logo is part of LA28’s larger emblem campaign with the purpose of “capturing the stories of Angelenos, athletes, artists and activists,” according to People.

“The LA28 emblem represents a collection of voices that reflects the host city’s vibrant culture of creativity, sport and self-expression,” the organizers said.

The closing ceremony will take place on Sunday in the Stade de France stadium, the site of the Athletics and Rugby Seven Olympic events.
