Mercury News: Does Ro Khanna have enough left to defeat Mike Honda?

In the primary, the media focused on Khanna’s huge fundraising advantage over Honda. He at one point had raised nearly four times more money than Honda.

Now coverage is focusing on whether Khanna made good use of his money. Ro KhannaHe garnered just 28 percent of the vote to Honda’s 48 percent in the primary.

A story in the Mercury News points out it is now Honda with the fundraising advantage. He has $1.06 million left in his campaign chest compared to Khanna’s $629,000.

Khanna spent $120 for every vote he received compared to Honda spending $34 per vote.

“With the money that Honda now has and the 20-point differential, the Khanna people are going to have to do some pretty extraordinary work to make it happen,” said political science professor Larry Gerston. ”
