WUGA-TV reports the first Asian American appellate court judge has been appointed by Governor Nathan Deal of Georgia.
Judge Carla Wong McMillian was named to replace Judge Harris Adams who recently resigned.
Wong McMillian won the most powerful and influential women in Georgia award in 2010 from the National Diversity Council. She’s also twice received the Georgia Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2007 and 2010
She attended Duke University and received her law degree from the University of Georgia.
Her grandparents are from China and Hong Kong.
