Macy’s has become the first department store in the United States to sell the hijab, reports Now This.
Not all the reaction, however, has been positive, with the department store being hit with a quick backlash, according to Fox News
Macy’s will feature the Verona Collection which is designed for women, a line designed for “women to express their personal identity.”
The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports the line was developed by Lisa Vogl, a graduate of Macy’s minority- and women-owned business development program.
The modest clothing will be catered to Muslim women.
Some on Twitter, however, called out the department store for setting women back.
@macys an American store just let us all know that they support the oppression of women with the Verona Collection! Congratulations for setting women back during the #metoo era. Great timing!

Thank you @Macys for carrying the Verona collection. We need more options for modest clothing. I’m sure it will be a huge hit with many of your customers.
