In Greenwood Indianapolis, authorities responded to a call of a verbal and physical altercation involving more than 100-150 people at the Gurdwara Sikh temple, leaving 4 people injured.
One witness says the confrontation included the use of pepper spray which was confirmed by Deputy Police Chief, James Ison to WTTV TV, saying “I believe there was one participant who said there was a pepper spray can thrown into a trash can.”
The incident began as tensions rose between opposing factions at the temple. According to the Daily Journal, the altercation erupted between the incoming party and outgoing party in temple leadership.
News outlets like the Daily Mail have claimed 4 people were injured as a result of sword cuts and stabbings. Ison however, has said there has been no evidence to support this and also said the injuries were minor. Additionally, Indystar, says the conflict goes beyond simple disagreements. Police will review surveillance tapes and interview witnesses.
