National Review: Socio-Economic Factors, not Race, Should Be Considered in College Admissions

posted by Randall

College CampusWhat would happen if colleges and universities considered socio-economic factors instead of race in the college admissions process? That’s what Reihan Salam openly wonders in his blog in the National Review.

Would upper income students find themselves at a sudden disadvantage? Would this be more fair to Asian Americans who feel elite universities have capped their admissions?

Where do you stand in this debate? How can we increase admissions of underrepresented populations while being fair to all who qualify for admissions?
