Chosun Ilbo: Korean American Actress Writer Does It All

posted by Randall

Movie Clapper Esther Chae has appeared in such hit TV series as the Shield and West Wing. She’s written and directed her own play, So the Arrow Flies. And now she’s working on a film adaptation. So as she told the Chosun Ilbo, don’t try to pin her down, because this young talented lady can do it all.

“Writing isn’t that difficult for me,” said Chae. “There is a limit to what you can do as an actor, as you have to follow the script, but in writing there are no limits to what your imagination can conjure up.”

The Oregon born Chae was born in Oregon, graduated from Yale in drama and as with so many Asian American actors before her, she’s found very few roles for Asian women.

In her one women play, So the Arrow Flies, she plays four roles. It’s a story of an FBI agent in hot pursuit of a North Korean spy. The drama has received good reviews and invitations to a number of international events. Here’s the official trailer of So the Arrow Flies
