North Korea says the presence of B-52s over the Korean Peninsula prompted it to withdrawal an invitation for US Envoy Robert King to come to negotiate release of American prisoner Kenneth Bae, reports Bloomberg.
“The strategic bombers’ intrusion into the air over the Korean Peninsula is the most blatant nuclear blackmail against us and a military threat to us,” the spokesman said, according to the statement. “It is the most striking manifestation of the offensive and aggressive nature of the joint military drills.”
Bae’s health has been deteriorating since his imprisonment 10 months ago. The US is asking North Korea to release him on humanitarian grounds.
