The 29-year old pitcher passed up a chance to test his value in the free agent market and is expected to sign once he passes a physical.

Lincecum has spent his entire Major League career with the San Francisco Giants and has developed a close relationship with the fans at AT&T Park.

“Brian said up front it was a priority to solidify our starting pitching, and Tim is a big part of that,” assistant general manager Bobby Evans said.

Lincecum’s performance has dipped in the last two years, but he’s committed himself to do a better job studying the hitters and he showed marked improvement in the second half of last season which included a 148 pitch no-hitter against the San Diego Padres July 14.

Some say the Giants overpaid to keep Lincecum on the staff. For more on that, you can read ESPN and watch the video. You can read more about the deal in SF Gate.
