Religious News Service: Christian group apologizes 10 years later to Asian Americans

CATEGORIES

Rickshaw Rally CurriculumLifeway Christian Resources is apologizing for publishing bible school material that “used racial stereotypes that offended many in the Asian American community,” reports Religious News Service.

The group acknowledged that a decade later, the printed Rickshaw Rally material is still a source of hurt for Asian American Christians.

“I am sincerely sorry stereotypes were used in our materials, and I apologize for the pain they caused,” Thom Rainer, president of Lifeway said.

“I’m really moved that LifeWay would go to these lengths to do this,” said Soong-Chan Rah of North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago.    “It’s not something they had to do since many people will see it as something that happened so long ago.”
