Westminster City Council OKs permit for Tet Parade despite ban on gays (New Video)

Viet Rainbow of Orange CountyThe Westminster City Council in Orange County  has approved a parade permit for a private group which plans to hold a Tet Parade and ban gays from participating.

The Council said it had no choice under the first amendment of the constitution despite the opposition of Viet Rainbow, GLAAD and the local arm of the Democratic Party.

The ban has been in place since last year when  the Vietnamese American Federation of Southern California took over the annual parade from the city due to budget cuts.

The first year was met by protests, but this is the first time a campaign had been launched to deny the group a parade permit.
