I was once accused by a white friend of mine of giving very weak hugs(photo by Jesslee Cuizon).
I thought about it and wondered if my perceived weak hugs were the result of my Chinese American cultural upbringing.
My mother and late father were never into hugging or showing public affection when we were younger, although I never doubted for a minute they love me and my brother.
A story on ABC says that the Chinese in China are now outhugging Americans.
School children are even given homework assignments to go home and hug their parents.
