Actress Kimiko Glenn recalled to Nikkei Voice the day she was sitting on her sofa watching the hit Netflix show Orange Is the New Black.
She opened up her email and in her in box was an invitation to audition for the program. She was stunned
” I was like oh, okay, I have to get this because I was in the middle of watching it and I was like, ‘This is an awesome show.’”
She nailed her audition, as they like to say in Hollywood. The next day her agent told her she got the part.
The show has brought lots of attention and opportunity for more work for Glenn, who is part Japanese and spent many summers with her mom in Japan. Her father is of Scottish, Irish and German descent.
“I feel like it’s good to have the recognition and people know your work, especially when you’re in this business, it’s tough to get your foot in the door.”
