Chicago Tribune: Teen Charged with Hate Crime in Beating of Sikh Man

Amidst a growing protest, a teenager in Illinois has been charged with a hate crime in the beating of a Sikh man, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Inderjit Singh Mukker was driving when he was cut off by another driver in a road rage incident, called numerous slurs such as “terrorist” and “Bin Laden, then beaten unconscious when he finally came to a stop.

A teenager was arrested a short time later and charged with felony aggravated assault.

A protest planned demanding that hate crime charges be added turned into a celebration today.
