UPDATE:  The Los Angeles Police Department has found a 21-month-old Asian toddler who had been reported kidnapped earlier in the day by San Francisco Police.

His father has been arrested without incident.

The SFPD issued an Amber Alert earlier today with the help of the California Highway Patrol.

Authorities say Makai Bangoura was kidnapped from San Francisco by Jason Lam, 30.

Relatives say Lam Lam has experienced mental breakdowns and was considered suicidal.

Police this evening said Lam was believed heading south toward Los Angeles with Makai on Highway 5.
He was last seen driving a 2000, 4 door Tan Toyota with license plate 5SEY238.

Police say Lam did not return the child to his mother as scheduled and subsequently issued the Amber Alert

The father and son had also been seen in Menlo Park via a surveillance camera.

If you see Lam, you are urged to call 911 and not attempt to approach him youself.
San Francisco police learned the pair was in Los Angeles through a tip.
