Teenagers in New York are accused of spitting on a 51-year-old Muslim woman, hitting her on the head and calling her a “terrorist,” reports the NY Daily News.
Souad Kirama, who is described as a Muslim community activist, says she was enjoying a cup of coffee inside a Panera Bread when she was assaulted.
“I was just viciously attacked by a bunch of teenagers,” said a tearful Kirama during her Facebook Live. “They attacked me, beat me up. And people were just standing there, watching me be beat up, called a ‘f—–g terrorist,’ and nobody did nothing. Nothing. Nobody stood up for me.”
The attack has drawn outrage in the Islamic community.
