A woman in Long Beach verbally accosted an Asian American couple going on a stroll with their daughter.
The woman can be heard telling the family to go back to their country.
Tony Kao, who posted the video on his Facebook page, believes this is the same woman who muttered something offensive to him a few weeks earlier.
He ignored that incident
because he wasn’t sure what the women said.

This time she could be clearly heard saying on the video, “you need to go back to your country.”
The woman began to flee after Kao’s wife began video taping the incident on her smart phone.
“Oh, you’re going to take my photo now. Woah,” said the woman as she began walking briskly away while Kao and his wife followed her.

In a separate video posted by Next Shark, the woman can be heard saying “it’s not safe because there’s too many people like you, here…invading.”
It’s just a short time later that she says, “You’re making my culture extinct.”
On his Facebook post, Kao’s thoughts turned to his wife and daughter.
“I apologize to my wife and daughter who was also on the scene with me to have to experience racism first hand. Our little girl was born in the city of LB, she’s already in her country stupid lady! You hear about racism among our society but when you experience it first hand and with your loved ones, it just sucks and ruins our day!! Can’t believe this kind of ignorance still exist in our state and city known for diversity and multiculturalism!”

Nothing will change unless the ones who hold prejudiced thoughts and beliefs change. European Americans who have more openness have to be the ones who educate their own. Please begin using the name European American instead of ‘white’ – or EuroAmerican as most of them don’t think they came from somewhere else originally as well. They think they are the only real Americans. If I am an Asian American, others African American etc. then they need and we need them to understand themselves as EuroAmericans that originally hailed from Europe. This is my personal charge and a goal I have taken on. I have been performing my theater piece ‘Red Altar’ about the Chinese immigrants who started the fishing industry in Monterey CA` despite prejudice, discriminatory laws and violence. Played to standing ovations, we recently received letters from one woman filled with racism. Oh yes. And she considers herself a liberal democrat. So it comes in many forms.
