BBC America recently reported the news that Mindy Kaling and Emma Thompson are set to start in Late Night, a screenplay written and produced by Kaling.
The film is about a failing talk show host, Thompson, who hires her first female writer, Kaling, in order to revamp her show.
Some may know Kaling from her popular television show, The Mindy Project, as well as the recent film A Wrinkle In Time.
Thompson is known for starring in films such as Nanny McPhee (2006) and Love Actually (2003). Her recent credits include Mrs. Potts in the live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast and the parrot Polynesia in The Voyage of Dr. Dolittle.
Late Night is also set to star John Lithgow (The Crown), Hugh Dancy (Hannibal), Reid Scott (Venom), and Paul Walter Hause (I, Tonya), Screen Daily reports.
Along with Kaling producing the film, Late Night will also be produced by Imperative Entertainment, FilmNation, and Howard Klein.
With the film still in development, no release date has been announced; excited moviegoers can still get an inside look at the film’s production.
Kaling recently shared a video on Instagram in which she is hit with a trash bag.
Those eager to see Kaling on the big screen can also look forward to her starring in Ocean’s 8 which is set to premiere on June 8.
