According to Manila Standard, The People’s Queen will the first US-produced reality show with an all Asian-American cast.
The new reality show will focus on Cecilio Asuncion and Voltaire Tayag as they take on five Filipino pageant hopefuls aiming for international titles.
“Described as a cross between Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and America’s Next Top Model, the new show is taking the pageant world by storm,” Resonate reports.
Asuncion and his family have a long history in the pageant world. As the grandson of a former Miss Manila, Asuncion is currently the National Director of Miss Supranational USA and the Director of Slay Model Management.

“The pageant community is looking to redefine its role in an era of female empowerment and gender equality,” Asuncion said.
Tayag, who is also well known in the pageant world, used to be a fashion designer before deciding to become a pageant trainer and journalist.
ABS-CBN Global COO Olivia De Jesus discussed how there is both a need and want for diversity on television, citing the success of Fresh Off the Boat and the film Crazy Rich Asians.
The People’s Queen will be available on Myxtv.com starting October 24 and will be available on TFC, TFC online, and the Lifestyle network on October 27.
