“CelebrAsian” was this year’s theme for the 40thanniversary of the Asian Pacific Heritage month festival on New York City’s Mott Street, organized by the Coalition of Asian Pacific Americans (CAPA).

It was a hot day, but that didn’t deter many from enjoying the musical performances, demonstrations and family friendly activities in the heart of Chinatown.

This year CAPA’s honorees were Suki Terada Ports, a long-time activist for Japanese and Asian Americans, Aiyoung Choi, an advocate for gender equality, and Adhikaar,  a New York based organization that works with the Nepali community.

Local elected officials also attended and congratulated CAPA for their hard work over the years.
