The owner of a small Chinese restaurant in Seymour, CT received a series of death threats in just a matter of minutes, reports the Valley Independent Sentinel.

This as yet another politicians is whipping up anti-Chinese hysteria in an effort to win votes, according to the Houston Chronicle.

The owner’s daughter says the Sushi & Wok recently received six separate threats in a ten minute span from two different phone numbers.

Meng Zheng told the Sentinel the caller blamed COVID-19 on Chinese people and threatened to shoot her parents.

Ju Zheng and Xuemei Chen, who opened the restaurant seven years ago, called their daughter in a panic. Meng arrived and called police to help translate for her parents.

“Originally it was just one number that was calling. My mother was getting very frustrated, so she hung up. They called back with a second number,” Meng said.

She posted a message on the restaurant’s Facebook page thanking customers for their support.

Scores of customers responded with messages of concern and support.

“We are so very sorry your experiencing such bigotry and hatred,” wrote one.

“Keep your heads up. I’m sorry people are awful,” wrote another.

“That’s terrible. Know that there are many good people in this community that don’t feel that way and that appreciate you remaining open,” said a third person.

In Houston, Republican congressional candidate Kathaleen Wall is making her anti-Chinese platform the center of her campaign.

In her latest ad, a narrator says “China poisoned our people” and called the Asian country a “criminal enterprise.” She also said she has Trump’s back and said he has the courage to call the coronavirus “the Chinese virus.”

Wall placed a distant second in the Republican primary, but because neither candidate received 50 percent of the vote, there will be a runoff with front runner and former Fort Bend County Sheriff Troy Nehls. The winner will run against Democrat and Indian American Sri Preston Kulkarni in the general election.
