James Charles faces backlash for using Indian classical music in video

YouTuber James Charles is being accused of mocking Indian classical music in a video posted on TikTok, reports Gulf News.

The video was criticized by social media users after it was reposted by Twitter user @hwanghaven.

In the 13-second video, Charles is seen lip-syncing to a song performed by Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar while using a new filter and laughing.

Twitter users accused Charles of “disrespecting Indian culture” and mocking the song, according to India Today.

Others pointed out that Indian classical music requires years of training to learn and should not be made into a joke.
