Laura Wong Joo snapped this photo of a wad of spit on her hair and shoulder
A San Francisco woman waiting at a red light while riding her scooter on Geary Blvd says she felt the presence of a man coming up from behind.
His ominous shadow appeared eerily larger as he neared. Suddenly Laura Wong Joo felt a large drop of moisture on her hair and shoulder.
Laura turned around and noticed the man backing away. She realized then he had spit on her.
“He did not have a mask on. I couldn’t get a good picture of him. When he noticed I was trying to get a photo, he turned away and my camera didn’t adjust,” Laura wrote on Facebook

Laura believes this is yet another example of anti-Asian incidents sweeping across the country. Stop AAPI Hate has received more than 2500 incidents of hate against Asians since the pandemic.
“I am a small petite asian woman…” she continued. “I felt like he attacked me because I’m Asian.. this is the second time I’ve encountered someone being racist towards me since March. I was raised in the Richmond district and never experienced racism until now.”
