New Orleans homeowner beaten by masked gunmen

Three men with machine guns beat a man with their guns to his head and stole his pick up truck in broad daylight in New Orleans. He suffered a contusion and lacerations to the head.

According to Daily Mail and footage of the armed robbery, Hung Nguyen reversed his Ford pickup truck as three people wearing masks approached him. They then pointed their guns and made Nguyen walk away from the car.

Some time later, the perpetrators use the car keys to get into the car. The footage also shows Nguyen opening the right side of the car, but retreating when one of the gunmen point their weapon.

As they started the car, Nguyen opened the back of the truck to retrieve his belongings but failed, running after the car as it exists the driveway.

Speaking to WDSU, Nguyen said he was lucky to be alive.

“I was testing something for my car,” he said. “I saw three guys walking. They saw me behind my car. They walked back, turned around and pulled out the guns. They said, ‘Give me the keys, give me the keys.'”

As a result of the attack, Nguyen suffered multiple contusions and lacerations to his head, requiring him to get staples. The video shows him at one point stumbling to the ground.

And this isn’t even the first time his vehicle was stolen, Nguyen said. Once before, Nguyen’s vehicle was stolen while he was at work in the same area of New Orleans.

While Nguyen’s vehicle was recovered, he said he could not locate the tools in the back of his truck. The suspects remain unidentified.

Neighboring residents who witnessed the attack were shaken. Speaking to WDSU, Melika Honore said it was a terrible sight.

“My first thought was ‘OMG that is horrible,’ Honore said, “until I zoomed in and I saw that was across the street from my house. “

This is not the first time a vehicle has gone missing in the area. Nguyen said that he and his neighbors feel unsafe.

Nguyen added he does not want to move out of the neighborhood because “the church is here.” He hopes that the suspects can be apprehended.

‘Everybody feels no good,” he said. “They want to move somewhere. But we live here,’ he told the publication.”
