Three Indian Americans up for Biden cabinet posts

Three Indian Americans are reportedly in serious contention for top positions in the Biden Administration.

Former Surgeon General Vivek Murthy, who is now on the President-elect’s COVID-19 Task Force, is reportedly in the running for Secretary of Health and Human Services, India Today reported.

Murthy served under the Obama-Biden administration as Surgeon General from 2014- 2017. Known as America’s Doctor, Murthy took on the opioid epidemic, e-cigarettes and climate change.

Indra Nooyi who served as chair of Pepsico for 12 years until 2018, has been prominently mentioned for the position of Commerce Secretary, according to MSN. Nooyi is one of many prominent woman in contention for jobs in the Biden White House.

Nooyi studied at the Yale School of Management and describes herself as a rebellious child from a conservative family in South India. She is currently on the board of Amazon. She has been critical of the Trump administration on Trade and his stance limiting H1B visas.

Meanwhile, Arun Majumdar , who now sits on the Stanford University faculty and has been a top adviser to Biden on energy policy, is on a short list of people considered for Energy Secretary, according to Politico.
