A friend of Lili Luo says the Chinese socialite killed herself and her baby because her boyfriend didn’t want to get married.
The Daily Mail cites the Chinese language publication The Cover for its news story.
Chinese media in Hong Kong reported that Luo, an American Chinese socialite, jumped from her penthouse naked while holding her baby. Initial reports indicated she had post partum depression.
“After falling pregnant, [Ms Luo] hoped to get married to her boyfriend and honor their relationship in an open and official manner. However, her boyfriend was not ready to get married,’ Alice Chiu Tsang Hok-Wan told The Cover.
Chiu is identified as a philanthropist and friend of Luo.

A check of Luo’s Instagram account shows she lived a luxurious life, traveling the world and hobnobbing with political leaders and the rich and famous.
Luo also posted several happy photos of herself with her child.
“She is God’s way to give me perspective on life. Thank you for showing up in my life my beloved daughter,” Luo wrote on her daughter’s 100 day birthday.
“I will miss her forever,” Chiu said about her friend Luo.
Luo founded TriBeluga, a company which connected start ups to the Chinese market.
