The Indian American CEO of a California-based cosmetics firm declared Friday his company stands with the Asian community against acts of racism and hate.

The statement released on Instagram by the company E.L.F. received nearly 30,000 likes in just the first 15 hours.

In an expanded post published on Linkedin, Tarang Amin outlined his thoughts.

“I am deeply saddened by the rising hate crimes against Asian Americans. It is heartbreaking that in a span of one week there have been five violent attacks mostly in our community in San Francisco and Oakland’s Chinatown,” he wrote.

Amin told Forbes in 2019 he is of Indian descent, born in East Africa, and came to the United States at a young age with his parents. He called building diversity and inclusion a “strategic imperative” for E.L.F.

In his post on LinkedIn, he rallied his employees to collectively “rise up against racial injustice.”

“My priority is to ensure that our Asian employees, partners and extended E.L.F. family feel supported. We will always stand in solidarity against racial injustice and take actions to make a positive difference in people’s lives.”

He said E.L.F. would offer anti-bias training for its employees, encourage allyship and regularly check in with its Asian teammates.
