Police in San Francisco say they’ve been unable to confirm the existence of a “Slap the Asian” challenge circulating on social media.
AsAmNews heard from several people this week in the San Francisco Bay Area concerned about the challenge. Warnings have been posted in various social media posts.
“We are aware of the social media post warning the Asian community about an assault that allegedly took place on a Muni bus,” the SFPD said on Twitter.
So far they’ve been unable to “collaborate” the challenge is actually real. So far its not known where the warnings of the challenge originated. It could be real. It could also be an urban myth gone viral.
AsAmnews delayed reporting on the challenge until we learned more so as not to unnecessarily scare our readers and possibly spread fake news.
