New Release from Rapper to aid Asian American community

By Mimi Chen, AsAmNews Staff Writer

Rapper B-Phong reacted to the recent shootings in Georgia by utilizing his creativity.  In trying to figure a way to help in the movement to #StopAsianHate, he has declared all the proceeds from his latest release will be donated to the Asian American community.

B-Phong, based in Bridgeport Connecticut, is a popular rapper on various platforms online.  When not in the studio, he’s currently studying for a Masters in Accounting.

He said even though his dream is to be able to make a living with his music, he’s just happy pursuing his passion even if his dream never comes to fruition. Because of the recent attacks against Asians, he’d like to see his new single Love Will Stay “blow-up” so he could make a meaningful gift to to the “Support AAPI Community Fund”

Phong said that before the shootings, a previous incident made him “woke” to the hate against the AAPai community.

“I looked at my Instagram and saw an article about a man who looked at another guy who happened to be Asian. And then suddenly, he stabbed the guy.”  Apparently the perpetrator told the cops that “the guy looked at him wrong!”  And my mind was boggling, like, you’re just standing there minding your own business, going through your daily life and someone just happened to find offense for some reason and do such a hateful crime.”

He explained that his goal was to try to raise as much awareness and donations for the Asian community as possible, even though he is not as well-off financially as some of his better known friends in the music community.  The easiest way to support the community is simply by streaming the song thru the various platform he said, as all the revenue will be donated to the Support AAPI Community Fund.
