The Disney Channel released a trailer today for its new original movie Spin which is set to debut August 13.
Avantika Vandanapu (Diary of a Future President on Disney +) plays Rhea who rediscovers her passion for music and digs deep into her Indian American culture for inspiration.
She is encouraged by her crush, DJ Max, who helps her discover she has a natural talent for creating beats and producing music. Avantika is surrounded by an international cast including Bollywood’s renowned Abhay Deol, (Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara) as her father Arvind; UK comedienne/actress Meera Syal (Yesterday) as her grandmother Asha; Aryan Simhadri (Adventures in Wonder Park) as younger brother Rohan; Michael Bishop (Grace Beside Me) as DJ Max; and her friend group- Anna Cathcart (Descendants franchise) as Molly; Jahbril Cook (A Week Away) as Watson; and Kerri Medders (Alexa & Katie) as Ginger.
Spin is directed by Manjari Makijany (Skater Girl) and executive produced by Zanne Devine (Easy A, I, Tonya), with writing by Carley Steiner (Play Date) and Josh Cagan (The Duff)
