The suspect accused of shooting a Chinese waiter at a restaurant in Las Vegas’ Chinatown has been found not competent to stand trial.
Rashawn Gaston-Anderson, 23, allegedly shot Chengyan Wang, a lead waiter at Shanghai Taste, on December 20 around 3 a.m.
Wang had stayed behind to do some cleaning at the restaurant when he was shot several times. The restaurant raised money to help him pay for his medical bills and continue sending money back to his family in China.
Gaston-Anderson was arrested a week after the shooting.
According to court documents, he has been found not competent to stand trial because he was “not capable of understanding the charges against him and is unable to assist counsel in his defense,” 8 News Now reports.
