Official ‘Ms. Marvel’ Poster Created by Pakistani Illustrator

The official poster for “Ms. Marvel,” a Disney + show featuring the first Pakistani American Marvel superhero (Kamala Khan), has been created by a Pakistani illustrator and designer.

Shehzil Malik shared the “Ms. Marvel poster” on her social media accounts.

According to Daily Times, Malik collaborated with Marvel Studios to help create the poster. Marvel used some of the artworks that she made about the show as a collage in the background of the poster, with the characters of the show being shown in the front. The poster includes the main character Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani.

Malik said her art pieces represent Ms. Marvel’s Muslim/Pakistani heritage which is shown in the colorful poster.

According to Something Haute, Malik’s artwork includes the faces of various empowered, ethnic women, a pack of juice, fire and much more.

Malik said in her Instagram story, viewers will get to see more of her art in the series and to keep an eye out for it.

Aside from her Ms. Marvel artwork, Malik’s art focuses on reclaiming the female form and fighting for rights and self-representation for female artists, according to an Aaj.tv article.

Malik’s art has received several awards. She is the recipient of the Yvonne HT Hebert Award from UN Women and is a Fulbright Scholar with an MFA in Visual Communication Design from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

One of her recent works was from 2019 when Malik released her original artwork campaigning for women’s rights. She put up posters of her art in the city of Lahore in Pakistan, according to the Aaj.tv article.

“Ms. Marvel” will start streaming on June 8 on DisneyPlus, where viewers can see Malik’s art in the show.
