Fourth Sikh man in Queens attacked in just weeks

Police in Queens are investigating the third attack on a Sikh man in just a matter of weeks.

The Indian Panorama reports someone attacked Kuldip Singh, 62, during his morning walk in Richmond Hills on Mother’s Day.

Singh is from Dasuya in Hoshiarpur. Authorities say a suspect rode up to Singh on a bicycle. He pulled out a pistol and demanded money. Singh grabbed the young man’s arm and the two began to wrestle. Singh told The Indian Panorama the man repeatedly punched him.

Singh has lived in the neighborhood for 30 years and says he’s never felt more unsafe.

“It’s too hard now, we’re very scared,” said Singh to WPIX.

As AsAmNews previously reported, police arrested two men in the attack on two men in Richmond Hills on April 12. Authorities say the two beat their victims with a pole. It happened in the same area where an attack occurred on a Sikh man on April 4.

One of the suspects arrested on the attack against two men was also charged with the April 4th attack.

“We are paying the price for that just because we look different,” said Harpreet Toor, of the Sikh Cultural Society. “I just tell them to be on alert, but at the same time, I’m telling them not to put yourself in the closet either, if you put yourself in the closet or you close yourself, then they’ve won. And I definitely don’t want them to win.”
