Netflix has renewed its new political drama The Night Agent for a second season. The renewal comes just a week after the series premiered on the streaming platform.
The show officially debuted on March 23. According to Deadline, Netflix typically waits at least 28 days before deciding to renew a show.
The plot is based on a novel of the same name by Matthew Quirck. An FBI agent finds himself in a dangerous conspiracy after learning there is a mole at the White House. According to Variety, Hong Chau plays the White House Chief of Staff.
“The last week has been a whirlwind as we’ve finally been able to share The Night Agent with the world. To see the tremendous reaction to the show has been a great joy and is a credit to our cast, our writers, our directors, our crew and our partners at Sony Pictures Television and Netflix. We couldn’t be any prouder or more excited to get cracking on season two to share the further adventures of Night Action with our newfound fans,” Shawn Ryan, the series’ showrunner, said in a statement announcing the news Wednesday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
