Get-rich-quick schemes have been the center of such hit movies and series as Ocean’s 8 and Squid Games.
However, Sandra Oh and Awkwafina take the genre to a new level with the new upcoming Hulu film Quiz Lady.
One look at the trailer below and you’ll have a pretty good sense of what this comedy is about.
The need for cash coupled with sibling love and rivalries, the zaniness of Awkwafinia and the range of Sandra Oh make this movie a wild ride.
“To explore sides of characters that you have not seen the actual actors play primarily, I mean, those are just gifts,” Oh told Entertainment Weekly. “As long as you’re feeling safe with the other acting partner, you’re able to go into your own either neuroses or ridiculous parts of yourself.”
According to Mashable, Awkwafina plays Ann, an uptight office worker on the quieter side. Jenny as portrayed by Sandra Oh is loud, out-spoken and spontaneous.
The two travel across country after Anne’s dog is kidnapped as collateral for their mother’s gambling debt. Jenny concocts a plan to get Ann onto a game show to win the money the two need to solve their problems.
Through it all, the pair says this is a movie with heart.
We’ll set to see where the drive takes them beginning November 3 on Hulu.
