Santa Clara Weekly: Miss California & Miss America 1st Runner Up Compared to President Obama.

CATEGORIES

Crystal Lee, Miss California 2013, first runner up Miss America 2013The comparison makes her uncomfortable and she dismisses it.

But Crystal Lee, the current Miss California & Miss America 1st runner up is being playfully compared to Barack Obama, according to the Santa Clara Weekly.

The comparison stems from a response she gave in the Miss America pageant asking for her thoughts on possible US intervention in Syria.

“I believe as one of the most powerful countries in the world, we have an ethical obligation to prevent a leader of a country who is using chemical weapons on his people. I believe we should use Congressional support if we can…” she said.

Such questions have sunk other contestant’s dream of becoming Miss America, but Lee’s response bolstered her chances. While flattered, she doesn’t like the comparison to the President.

“It’s unfair to compare me to the President because his job is much more complicated than mine,” Lee says. “I had to simplify my answer, given the time constraint. If President Obama had 20 seconds, he would be able to do it too.”

You can read her thoughts about the racist statement made by current Miss America Nina Davuluri and what its like to come so close to being Miss America in the  Santa Clara Weekly.
