Indian American family of 4 killed in fatal crash near San Francisco

Authorities east of San Francisco are investigating a fatal crash that left a family of four including two children dead.

The American Bazaar identifies the four as Tharun George, his wife, and their two children, citing information from the Malayalam language news site, Emalayalee.com. The crash occurred in Pleasanton at Foothill Road near Stoneridge Drive.

George immigrated from Kerala, India and worked at a tech company.

The Pleasanton Unified School District confirmed the children attended school there, without revealing the name of the school.

“We’ve provided some extra counseling and support resources for students on campus,” said district spokesperson Patrick Gannon to Fox2. We have wellness centers at our middle and high schools, and students have been encouraged to visit those resources if they have a need. We’re also following up with families at the end of the day with a lot of resources as far as grief and just being there for students for whatever they need.”

Hasan Shaikh visited the crash scene and told ABC7 News he worked with the father.

“It was a great family, great personality they definitely will be missed – great father, great coworker and a great person overall,” Shaikh said.

He declined to confirm the identity of the family.

There’s no word on what caused the one car crash or whether speed or alcohol may have been involved. George’s electrical car caught fire after the crash and reignited several times.
