A Filipino American has advanced to the Top 16 round of X Factor, reports ABS CBN.
17-year old Ellana Santiago is from San Lorenzo, CA in the San Francisco BayArea. She moved to the United States with her family from the Philippines when she was just 11-years old.
She sang Clarity from Zedd. Demi Lovato who chose Santiago for her final four was not convinced she had the star quality to advance, but the other judge’s urged Lovato to select Santiago.
“Ellona, it’s probably one of the best vocals we’ve heard from this category. I can’t imagine you actually not being here in this competition…I think this girl is one of the better singers,” Cowell said.
The audience chanted Ellana’s name in unison urging a conflicted Lovato to add her to her team. In the end, Lovato agreed
