If you have a common Asian name like Kim, Patel or Wong and you’re registered to vote, your vote could be in jeopardy, reports Race Files.
An investigation by Al Jazeera America has found 7 million mostly Asian, Latino and black voters are under suspicion for voter fraud.
Their crime? They may have double voted in two states. According to the investigation, the names are compiled by matching names like Kim, Patel, Wong, Jackson and Garcia–names all commonly associated with ethnic minorities.
According to the report, the actual list shows “not only are middle names commonly mismatched and suffix discrepancies ignored, even birthdates don’t seem to have been taken into account.”
“It’s Jim Crow all over again,” says civil rights leader Rev. Joseph Lowery. “I think [the Republicans] would use anything they can find. Their desperation is rising.”
