Kollaboration Los AngelesOn Saturday, June 27, six up and coming performers from the Asian American Pacific Islander community will compete in Kollaboration Los Angeles for a chance to compete in the national competition and the $10,000 grand prize.

The annual showcase will be held at the Los Angeles Theatre Center in Downtown LA.

It will include a special guest performance from Azure, an alternative rapper and DJ hailing from Oakland, CA known for serene persona and complex flow. In addition, this year’s showcase will also include the fan-favorite Freestyle Hip Hop Competition, as well as for the first time a Celebrity Lip Sync Competition featuring four celebrity VIP audience members.

The six finalists in this year’s competition are Lisa Sonoda (singer/songwriter), Perry & Danielle (Acoustic Duo), Peter Chung (Singer/Songwriter), Rosy Donovan (Singer/Songwriter), Track IX (Beatbox), and Will Park (Singer/Songwriter). Sonoda is an indie pop/rock musician currently working on her first EP. The sound of Perry & Danielle contains smooth, piano-based instrumentation with soulful melodies that move, creating a twist on pop-alternative-soul. Chung has already placed in several competitions including 1st place in the Diesel Indie Music Contest SF 2013. Donovan strives to live life unabashedly and that personality comes out in her music. Track IX has set herself apart in the male dominated beatboxing competitions around the country. Park both performs and teaches music and hopes to use his music for social change.
