A transgender Filipino activist has been included in a new campaign by cosmetic company Cover Girl to inspire young woman to reach new heights, reports ABS CBN.
Entitled Girls Can, the program features a series of interviews by journalist Soledad O’Brien with women leaders.
“Media shapes culture. So when media starts telling empowered and dignified experiences of being LGBT, it would make such a difference to a person who is watching that. And that is the power of media,” Rocero said.
O’Brien’s story focuses on how Rocero has used her celebrity to bring change for transgender Filipinos in the Philippines.
Rocero’s organization Gender Proud has been under a cloud of controversy.
