Yale Student Accuses Amy Chua of Lying about Brett Kavanaugh

Amy Chua

“She’s lying.” That’s what a Yale Law School graduate is telling the Huffington Post after author and Yale professor Amy Chua denied coaching students on the physical appearance Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh looks for in his law clerks.

A current law student at Yale backed up what the former student said.

“I personally heard her (Chua) state that it’s not an accident that all his clerks look like models,” she said. “So I personally know that for her to say the allegations are 100 percent false is a lie, because at least that one is definitely true.”

Chua has denied coaching her students on the feminine look Kavanaugh seeks in his law clerks on the Court of Appeals.

“Everything that is being said about the advice I give to students applying to Brett Kavanaugh – or any judge – is outrageous, 100% false, and the exact opposite of everything I have stood for and said for the last 15 years,” Chua said in a letter that was sent to the Yale Law School community quoted by The Guardian.

Kavanaugh currently faces allegations from a professor in the San Francisco Bay Area, Christine Blasey Ford, that he once held her down and groped her while in a drunken state at a party in high school.

Since then, a former Yale student has accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct while he was a freshman at Yale in 1983-1984, reported The New Yorker. Both Ford and Kavanaugh are scheduled to testify Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA) who sits on the committee has called for a halt to the confirmation proceedings while the new allegations can be fully investigated.
