California Man Drives to Police Station with Dead Body in Car, Confesses to Quadruple Homicide

On Monday, 53-year-old Shankar Nagappa Hangud drove to the Mt. Shasta Police Department and confessed to the murder of four people.

According to KDRV, Hangud drove to the station and told the dispatcher at the front window that he had killed someone. The body of the victim, he said, was in his parked car. Police went to check Hangud’s car and found the body.

“These are things that just don’t happen every day and when they do it is upsetting,” Mt. Shasta Police Chief Parish Cross told KDRV. “I’ve been in the business a long time and I’ve seen a lot of unusual occurrences, just upsetting occurrences, but this one here is a whole new level. We are still in shock.”

Hangud then told police that they would find three other bodies at his apartment in Roseville. According to NBC News, police did find the three other bodies when they went to check the apartment in Roseville.

Roseville Police Department Capt. Joshua Simon said on Tuesday that all four victims (two adults and two juveniles) are related to Hangud.

“It appears that the victims were killed by this suspect over a few days time span,” Simon told NBC News. “We’re still working to put that timeline together.”

Hangud is now the only suspect in a quadruple homicide and has been placed in a jail near Placer County. Police say there appears to be no ongoing threat.
