Where Donald Trump left off, Bill Maher is just beginning.
Friday the host who prides himself on being a contrarian and politically incorrect (AKA an ass) went on a rant on his HBO show saying its OK to call the coronavirus the Chinese virus.
“New rule: You can’t yell at someone for breaking a rule you just made up,” Maher began.
“Just made up?” The World Health Organization first issued its advisory of naming diseases after regions in 2015. That’s five years ago.
But Maher’s insists they’ve been naming viruses after regions a long time…soooo, logic dictates, it must be OK.
Yeah, society has been denigrating women and minorities for generations. So by Maher’s logic, it MUST be OK.
Last month he downgraded the disease, according to Variety.
“People die. That’s what happens in life…” he went on to say. “Y2K was going to end the world and the fires in Kuwait were going to end the world and the BP oil spill was going to end the world, and every other f—ing flu we’ve ever had. And it didn’t.”
Hey, such a responsible thing to say, Bill. You’re a real upstanding guy. Why don’t you just invite everyone over to your house for a big group hug. The hell with social distancing. The hell with stopping this virus in its tracks and ending the rapidly growing deaths around the world.
As of yesterday, the World Health Organization says there’s been nearly 1.7 million confirmed cases worldwide and nearly 106,000 deaths. Just ignore all that. You’re a real upstanding citizen, Mahers.
