Parents and teachers at a New York City school accused a principal of saying “she hates Asian people” and other racist things about Black and Hispanic students.
In a letter obtained by the New York Post, Debra Mastriano of PSS 166 is also accused of preventing a kindergartener from eating a piece of birthday cake packed in his lunch from home becausee she thought he was overweight.
Mastriano also described PSS 166 as “too Asian,” before declaring her hatred for that community, according to the letter drafted by 64 parents.
In addition, according to the Daily Mail, she also made assumptions that all Black and Hispanic students came from a nearby New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) project.
‘I wish someone would level [the NYCHA building],’ the letter stated she said. ‘It only breeds dysfunction. Except when they rebuild it, it should have good role models in it too, so they can learn good behavior.’
MEAWW goes on to report that Mastriano once allegedly screamed at a fourth grade Puerto Rico student “”Who lives with you? Do you even have a father at home? Is your mother addicted to drugs?”
On Dec 1, the Post reports 28 teachers and more than 70 former and current parents gave Mastriano a vote of no confidence.
Neither Mastriano nor the Department of Education returned the Post calls for comment.
