Jessica Pegula calls out journalist for tweet about her crying after a loss

Jessica Pegula called out a journalist during a press conference over a tweet that claimed she was crying after losing to Madison Keys at the U.S. Open quarterfinals.

The tweet originally came from The Tennis Podcast.

“Were you guys the ones that tweeted that I cried when I walked off the court,” Pegula said, seemingly addressing a journalist from The Tennis Podcast.

The athlete set the record straight.

“I definitely wasn’t crying. I just got waxed in like an hour. Like, I gotta go play doubs (doubles) in an hour,” she said.

The Tennis Podcast issued a tweet clarifying their original statement.
