Preparations are in place ahead of the Chinese New Year Parade happening this Saturday, February 24th, in San Francisco.
AsAmNews saw firsthand the process of making the dragon floats that will be seen during the parade.
We spoke with Stephanie Mufson, the director of The Parade Guys, to ask about the production.
“It’s been good, we started in October and we’ve been working on building since December.”
When asked about the steps of the production, she replied “We started our design process in October and that usually takes about two months. We start early fabrication in December so there’s a lot of sculpting and woodworking then we move into painting and now we’re in the final stages which is just all the decorating that just goes in at the very end.”
Since each parade is different from the previous ones, we asked how they think it will be this year.
“Well we’re hoping for less rain for the parade day for one thing but also the dragon is very special because it has a lot of deep meaning for people, so a lot of people are very excited about the era of the dragon.
The much-awaited parade is only a few days away and everyone is looking forward for the event.
