The Sacramento Kings recently announced plans to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month.
In a press release, the northern California NBA team reflected on its “ongoing efforts to celebrate and highlight the contributions, culture and achievements of the community.” Throughout the season the team and Golden One Center partnered with local AAPI businesses.
“Throughout the month of May and all year, we are proud to honor the rich diversity and invaluable contributions of the AAPI community,” Sacramento Kings Chief Operating Officer Matina Kolokotronis said in a statement. “At the Kings, we are committed to fostering inclusivity and amplifying the voices and stories of AAPI individuals, highlighting their resilience and accomplishments.”
The team is in the off-season right now having been knocked out during the play-in tournament. The Sacramento Kings as an organization, however, will support the AAPI Night Market in collaboration with the Sacramento Asian Pacific Chamber of Commerce on May 31.
