In an explosive interview with the African American news site, The Root, Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris called Trump a racist and said she supports the decriminalization of sex work.
Harris said she could not “criminalize consensual behavior as long as no one is being harmed… at the point where people are being harmed or exploited then I think we have to understand that is a different matter.”
The senator from California made a clear distinction between the human trafficking of immigrants for sex exploitation and those who choose sex work as a profession.
As for Trump being a racist, she said “When you talk about him calling African-American countries s-hole countries, when you talk about him referring to immigrants as rapists and murderers, I don’t think you can reach any other conclusion,” Harris said.
Harris remarks about President Trump comes days before today’s testimony from former Trump attorney Michael Cohen who called Trump a racist during testimony today before the House Oversight Panel.
Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT) last week also called Trump a racist.
