Medical student falls to death jumping between rooftops

A third year medical student at Drexel University in Philadelphia is dead after a failed attempt at jumping between rooftops, reports CBS3.

He has been identified as Vivek Subramani who graduated as an undergraduate in biological sciences in 2017 before staying to pursue his medical degree.

Authorities say Subramani was with other students jumping from rooftop to rooftop on their two story apartment when he did not make the jump and fell on his head onto the concrete below.

Scallywag and Vagabond reports was a member of the fraternity Sigma Beta Rho.

‘He would always brighten up any room he walked into and was more than a friend to those who knew him,’ the fraternity wrote on a GoFund Me page to raise money for his family.

Police say there is no evidence of narcotics or foul play, although there have been reports Subramani had been drinking with friends earlier the day of the accident.

“On behalf of the entire Drexel community, I want to extend my deepest sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Vivek. There are no words to express the sense of loss when any young life is cut so short, and especially for someone with so much promise,” Drexel President John Fry said in a statement.
